The Sir Thomas Lipton Foundation exists as a registered charity (SC041451) because of one simple belief. It is this: We cannot afford to lose the talents and contribution of any of our children, for their sake, for the sake of the prosperity of all, and for the sake of the future of our blue planet.
Whether or not children grow up in areas of deprivation or circumstances of disadvantage, should be totally irrelevant. What matters is that all children, regardless of where they come from or who they are, deserve a fair opportunity to discover and achieve what they are capable of.
What we do, is deliver a challenging maritime programme for whole class groups of 10-12-year-old children who are least likely to make those discoveries without outside help. It’s about steering them, before critical teenage years, to a better understanding of their potential, being more confident about who they are and what they can be. That’s why we call it Buoyed Up.
Short interviews to watch with people from all walks of life who are passionate about the sea for so many different reasons.

Founded in 2010, the Sir Thomas Lipton Foundation is a registered charity.
We care deeply about propelling 10 to 12 year old children – at school in areas of acute social and economic disadvantage – into their critical teenage years with an unforgettable experience of sailing, enterprise and achievement.
At the heart of Buoyed Up is a narrative about the life and example of Sir Thomas Lipton.
